Hunter's or Trapper's Certificate

If the deceased held a hunter's or trapper's certificate, you must return the certificate to the Direction des permis et de la tarification of the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune or to a regional office. You must attach a copy of the death certificate to the certificate and send it to the following address:

The hunter's or trapper's certificate is a document establishing that a person is recognized as being qualified to handle hunting equipment (firearm, crossbow, bow) or to trap.
This certificate is required for :
the purchase of a resident's hunting licence, whether with a firearm (including crossbow) or bow; Hunting Licences: General Regulations
and for the purchase of a resident trapping permit: Trapping Permit
INFORMATION APPEARING ON THE HUNTER'S OR TRAPPER'S CERTIFICATE
The certificate is a plastic card on which must appear :
- full name;
- date of birth;
- signature of the holder;
- Certificate number;
- expiry date or permanence mention;
- code of the activity for which it is issued:
- "A" for bow or crossbow hunting;
- "B" for crossbow hunting;
- "F" for firearm hunting;
- "C" or "L" for firearms safety course;
- "A" for bow or crossbow hunting;
Note: The hunter's or trapper's certificate with code "F" is proof of equivalence of the course required to complete an application to the Sûreté du Québec for possession and acquisition of a firearm.
