Candle Ceremony

Berthiaume Funeral Homes is holding this "Service in Remembrance" in order to help those who have lost a loved one, especially in the last year, to find some support during the Holiday Season as well as to remember and honour their loved ones surrounded by people who have also experienced a loss.

During this service and with your help, we will also be writing a story . . . the story of the candle!

Four candles will be lit by bereaved persons: to celebrate the people we have loved and lost, to recognize our grief, to symbolize our memories, to celebrate ourselves for dealing with all the emotions following the death of a loved one.

All the candles at the front represent those who have died in the past year as well as those who will die in the coming year. The candles we gave you upon your arrival represent all of us left behind.

You will be invited to light your candle which is yours to keep. You will also be asked to light those in front. These will be brought back to Berthiaume funeral home so that we may offer them to our bereaved families throughout the coming year.

These candles will help remind the bereaved persons that they are not alone. The first person that lit this candle shared his/her pain and has walked the journey they are now commencing.

Take this candle and light it when you are feeling alone and know that there are many others who have travelled this difficult journey and survived and so will you.
